Shuttle 21: Serangoon—Punggol Shuttle Bus Service

Shuttle 21 is a Rail Replacement Service plying between Serangoon – Punggol, serving en-route North East Line (NEL) stations.

The route will be activated to operate on selected Fridays and Saturdays in April 2021, when shortened operating hours are implemented on the North East Line to accelerate the replacement of insulators of the overhead catenary system. The failure of an older design of insulators was blamed for two previous power faults that caused disruptions lasting several hours.

The Shuttle Bus Service serves the following MRT Stations:

• NE13 Kovan
• NE14 Hougang
• NE15 Buangkok
• NE16STC Sengkang
• NE17PTC Punggol

Shuttle 21 operates during periods of planned closure on the NEL.

The Shuttle Bus Service will only operate on days of Early Closure of the NEL in April 2021, namely:

• Friday 9 April 2021
• Saturday 10 April 2021
• Friday 16 April 2021
• Saturday 17 April 2021

Bus Fares:

Charges regular distance fare based on the distance between MRT Stations by rail. Train, bus and hybrid concession passes are accepted, and distance fare rules apply.

History:

• 2018 (17 Dec): Route announced for Early Closure of North East Line in January, February & March 2019 (Serangoon – Punggol) and March 2019 (HarbourFront – Dhoby Ghaut)
• 2018 (25 Feb): March 2019 (HarbourFront – Dhoby Ghaut) renumbered to Shuttle 22
• 2019 (21 Jun): Route announced for Early Closure of North East Line in July 2019 (Serangoon – Punggol)
• 2019 (17 Oct): Route announced for Early Closure of North East Line in November 2019 (Serangoon – Punggol)
