Decommissioning of the first-generation Bukit Panjang LRT trains, the Bombardier Innovia APM 100 (C801), began in November 2023. These trains have served passengers on the BPLRT since the line opened in November 1999.
Retirement Background

The Bukit Panjang LRT line is a people mover system that opened in November 1999, built to the Innovia APM standard. With a 20-year design lifespan approaching, in March 2018, an asset replacement and renewal contract was awarded to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Bombardier (now Alstom), under Contract 801B – Asset Replacement and Reliability Enhancement Works for Bukit Panjang Light Rapid Transit.
In addition to the replacement of critical railway components and a resignalling upgrade, 19 new Innovia APM R cars would be acquired as one-for-one replacements for first-generation APM 100 cars, indicating the forthcoming retirement of these trains.

Two new Innovia APM 300R cars (car numbers 133 and 134) were delivered to Singapore in 2022, with four more cars due to be delivered in 2023.
Lifting
In the early hours of 26 November 2023, the first of 19 trains (car number 101) was lifted off the guideway and transferred to Alstom’s Contract 801B staging area located adjacent to Ten Mile Junction Depot.
