Tanjong Katong MRT Station (TE25) is an underground station located along the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) 4. It is built underneath Tanjong Katong Road South, at the junction with Meyer Road and Amber Road, bringing rail connectivity to condominiums and landed houses around Meyer Road and Amber Road.

The station gets its name from Tanjong Katong Road South on ground level, although the region of Tanjong Katong is more commonly associated with Tanjong Katong Road up north. It is also located near the Chinese Swimming Club and Playground@Big Splash across East Coast Parkway.

The station was originally targeted for completion and opening in Year 2023. However, it was delayed till 2024 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Tanjong Katong station has two platforms in a stacked side platform arrangement, with both platforms utilized for trains travelling in either direction. Owing to land constraints arising from building the station next to existing developments, the stacked platform design was adopted.

Construction Trivia

Contract T306 for the Construction of Construction of Tanjong Katong Station for Thomson-East Coast Line was awarded to Woh Hup (Private) Limited at a contract sum of S145.6 million in March 2016. The working name for the station was Amber Station.

Woh Hup’s legacy of landmarks and buildings include MacDonald House, Centrepoint, World Trade Centre (now Habourfront Centre, Clifford Pier (now The Fullerton Bay Hotel), TEL’s Woodlands South station and Changi Airport’s Project Jewel.

To make way for station construction, six semi-detached houses along Amber Road and nine walk-up apartments along Tanjong Katong Road were acquired.
