Over 30 public buses were stuck at Changi Airport PTB3 yesterday evening (20 February 2021), following a bus breakdown that disrupted traffic for an hour.
At approximately 9:20 pm, an SMRT Mercedes-Benz Citaro (SG1104R) on Bus Service 110 broke down along the single-lane T3 Basement Drive, rendering the road impassable to other buses.

The buses of Bus Services 24, 27, 34, 36, 53, 110 and 858 quickly piled up behind the broken-down vehicle, forming a snaking queue that extended beyond the T3 Basement that continued on to Airport Boulevard. At least 30 buses were stuck in the queue.

The broken-down bus was towed out an hour later, at 10:25 pm.
Changi Airport deployed ushers at Terminal 3 and passengers were advised to take the Skytrain to Terminal 1 to board the bus. However, no buses were seen at Terminal 1 until approximately 10:30 pm, after the broken-down bus had been cleared. Only Service 36 buses arrived at around 10:10 pm and 10:20 pm, with no other bus services seen.

SBS Transit also put out a since-deleted tweet at 9:57 pm, advising that Bus Services 24, 27 and 53 were skipping Changi Airport PTB3 basement (95011) due to a vehicle breakdown.
Contingency plans
In the event that Changi Airport basement is impassable to public buses, bus services are often diverted to the departure halls along T1/T2/T3 Departure Drive, where a temporary bus stop would be set up.

This scenario was not observed on 20 February 2021.
